What is Volumetric Weight?

Volumetric weight is used by carriers to determine how much space your package will occupy in the shipping vehicle. It's different from the actual weight of the package.

How to Manually Calculate Volumetric Weight

To calculate the volumetric weight of your package, follow these steps:

  1. Measure the three dimensions of the box (length, width, height) in centimetres or inches.
  2. If using centimetres, multiply the dimensions and divide by 5000 (for EU economy services, divide by 4000). If using inches, divide by 305 (for EU economy services, divide by 245).
  3. The outcome of this calculation gives you the volumetric weight of your box.

After comparing the volumetric weight to the actual weight, the courier will charge you based on the higher value, known as the **billable weight**.
